Contact Sheets, 2011
Digital enlargements of contact sheets
These contact sheets take into consideration the narrative relation that is established between the pictures when shown in this way. In a contact sheet, the importance of each photograph depends on the significance that it acquires in association to the story that the whole film is narrating rather than as a single image by itself.

The photographs that build up this series are the result of my findings during the wanderings I’ve realized in different cities. Inspired by the ideas of the intelectual and art movement of the last century called the S. I. (Situationsit International), I’ve conceived the practice of walking around the city, or “dérive” (as it was called by them) into a tool for understanding a city’s fragility. My interest lies in recording urban change, and the way people appropriate public space (either for practical use or for expressing their nonconformity).
